Why We Are Partnering With IHUS At Grand Designs 2016

"IHUS Grand Designs 2016"

Sometimes you meet people in life that you get along with straight away and that is exactly what happened when we recently met the great people behind IHUS.

Not only do they uphold all the same values as we do when it comes to being customer focused, but they also have an extensive construction background and specialise in annexes, adapting living spaces for the disabled, build extensions and homes and have been on the receiving end of some amazing testimonials. (one of which you will see below)

So instead of seeing each other as competition (which is typical of a lot of situations like this) we immediately BOTH saw a fusion of skill sets, personalities and benefits for the market sector as a whole and our future annexe and self-build customers looking for the very best in customer service and quality of build.

For all those reasons (plus a few more below) we are partnering IHUS at Grand Designs next month.

Feature Article: Why We Are Partnering With IHUS At Grand Designs 2016

1. IHUS Build Excellent Annexes

You can tell by looking at the portfolio on their website and by reading some of the customer testimonials that IHUS build excellent annexes.

Like us, they have adapted some models to suit Local Planning Authority guidelines for obtaining planning permission for an annexe in the back garden. (something Local Planning Authorities are not keen on.)

We shared our view on this a few weeks ago with this article called Granny Annexes Take On Retirement Villages

But in certain circumstances the exciting custom build annexes are what we all love to be a part of, there is nothing better than the feeling you get when you are literally able to bring a customer’s own design to life it’s like Grand Designs on a smaller scale and if you have a budget of between £100,000 and £140,000 in mind then you can literally build something very special indeed.

Most annexes built in suburban back gardens typically cost between £75,000 and £95,000 depending on the size and specification of the annexe and the siting of the services on the plot.

2. They Offer Great Customer Service

We travel a LOT up and down the country (which we like doing by the way) seeing and meeting new people each week is not only very interesting but can be a whole lot of fun too.

However sometimes communication and “office time” is rare so having the great back-up of the IHUS team is a very big bonus when it comes to enhancing customer service.

Being able to pick up the phone and speak to someone about progress is a very important part of an annexe contract as it is typically 8-10 weeks in planning followed by a 2-3 week manufacturing time and 7-8 weeks on site actually building the annexe.

That’s a long time to be in contact with a company and it’s one of the best ways to help customers stay as stress-free as possible throughout the process.

3. They Receive Great Feedback

On the left is of course Tony Blackburn and on the right is Trevor Smeaton the owner of IHUS and one of the people you can meet alongside us at Grand Designs in October.

This is what Tony & Debbie Blackburn said about IHUS and their recent granny annexe installation:-

“We cannot thank iHUS enough for making what we anticipated being a slightly stressful time into a wonderful experience. Without exception every member of the team was considerate conscientious and incredibly hard working.

The office staff were beyond helpful, answering all our queries quickly and efficiently, keeping in contact every step of the way and even obliged when we made a couple of design changes during the build to accommodate my Mum. The ground force team were simply amazing! I just don’t know how they maintained working at such speed yet completing everything to an incredibly high standard and again keeping us involved and continuing to ensure we were happy with everything. The guys were always positive cheerful and enthusiastic and nothing was too much trouble.

We struggled to believe the build would be completed within 8 weeks yet due to everyone’s effort it was all done in 7! (Tony claims his copious cups of tea and biscuits may have helped!)

You feel with iHUS that the person they are building the annexe for is their main priority and they will do whatever they can to get exactly what is needed to make it an ideal home specifically designed for them and their needs and they have certainly achieved that for us and even exceeded our expectations. My mum loves her new home and is desperate to complete the furnishings so she can move in …Thank you so much Debbie and Tony Blackburn “

So as you can see we are very excited about partnering with IHUS to help expand into new markets (such as the Care Home industry) and extensions that can be removed easily and transported elsewhere!
