Decking Adds The Perfect Finishing Touch

"Contemporary Log Living Shropshire"

Working with wood a lot of the time calls for people with carpentry and joinery experience and one of the best aspects of building annexes and homes with wooden cladding is that a decked area finishes the whole building off to perfection.

When we are building annexes we are often working with sloping ground on one side or the other which needs a solution (usually decking) to create an outdoor living area that typically extends from the lounge or bedroom.

When we completed our recent self-build project in Shropshire we were asked to provide a decked walkway around the house which made the house project look even more stunning than before.

Whether it’s for an outdoor dining area, wheelchair access or just adding the perfect finishing touch, we are more than happy to provide you with a quotation for a decked area to complete your annexe off in style.

Our Latest Self-Build Home Project

Sometimes the best solutions to problems on site are solved with decking. Creating a pathway that doesn’t interfere with air bricks that can provide safe access for wheelchairs are sometimes a priority for annexes and purpose-built homes.

When we were asked to come up with a design we went all out and all the way around the house with this one.

Our customer wanted to extend the area at the front to create a dining area and as wood is so versatile, we were more than happy to oblige. The end result is the perfect finishing touch to a building that was air tested at 2.4 and built within 15 weeks. Extending Contemporary Style Outside

If you like wood but you are not a fan of the natural look, softening everything up with neutral soft tones and rendered walls and planters can help you recreate a stylish and contemporary look to your garden like the picture above.

White outdoor scatter cushions, light grey decking and the clever use of the trees with silver foliage all add up to a lovely contemporary outdoor decked area to enjoy.

We are so lucky to be able to make use of outdoor cushions and seating today in all our favourite colours (and they won’t break the bank either) so creating comfortable seating that matches your colour choices inside and out has never been easier.

The Perfect Entertainment Area

The summer of 2014 was long, warm and sunny, 2015 however has been (apart from June) pretty darn mixed depending on where you are in the UK.

The need for heating in our UK summer evenings is a MUST HAVE if you are to enjoy an evening sat outside with friends or family and the fire pit has become one of our favourite ways to keep the heat up when the sun goes down.

This sunken seating area is perfect for entertaining and a riot of colour from the all-weather scatter cushions and seating make it look fun and inviting.

Just add food and Prosecco and you are done!

Enjoying The Last Of The Summer Wine

"Decking ideas"

There is a great Canadian TV series about decking called Decked Out. What these guys do week in and week out is take a dull and uninspiring looking back of a house and transform it into a lovely outdoor living space with some amazing features and levels.

Obviously Canada’s climate is different to ours (being very, very cold in the winter, and hot in the Summer) but it begs the question about the often British objection to decking because it is so slippy when covered in ice.

Of course decking can be slippy when iced over, but then again most other surfaces are too. You can always apply a non slip stain to decking boards to help prevent this and decking retains it looks so much better than patio slabs that need regular jet washing to keep them looking good.

If you have a sloping garden with a beautiful view a decked area is the perfect way to enjoy every last drop of the last of the summer wine and outdoor dining experience.

Summary

  1. Decking is the perfect solution to a lot of garden level problems.
  2. It is the perfect way to build wheelchair ramps and outdoor living areas.
  3. With all colours now available in wood stains, you can create your favourite look easier than ever before.
  4. Add outdoor scatter cushions and seating for comfort and stylish outdoor entertainment areas.
  5. Stain decking with non-slip stains to help prevent it from becoming very slippy when iced over.
